Set Specific Columns to Show When You Run a Filter
Overview
Jira filters are a great way to get quick access to a defined set of issues, but unlike some other query languages you cannot define the columns you want to see directly in the query. This document covers how to define your columns so that each time you run your filter you see the same fields returned in the same order each time. This is extremely useful for filters driving export-based reporting.
Adding Your Columns
Run your filter. If you’ve been working in issue navigator or this filter, you should start “fresh” with no alterations or edits so that your filter URL looks similar to:
https://XXXX.atlassian.net/issues/?filter=12345
Click the “Columns” drop-down in the middle-right of the screen (below the search area and above the results) and click the middle “Filter” option.
Search for and then click the checkbox next to each field you want to show in your results. When you are done, press “Done” at the bottom of the window.
Reload your filter “fresh” from the quick select on the left or the “Filters” dropdown at the top of the screen. You should see your filter load with the columns you selected.
The UX here is a bit janky and does not seem to be totally consistent.
If you do not see your selected columns when you re-run your filter, try adding your columns one at a time.
If you are attempting to export the data using the “current fields” option or into a Google Sheet directly, you will need to refresh the filter before performing your export.
